Bishop Carl A. Pierce, Sr., a graduate of Tyler Junior College and the University of Houston, formally entered the ministry in 1986 and was ordained an Elder in 1989. On July 2, 2000, following the passing of Bishop Frank James Ellis, Pastor of Carter Memorial Church, Elder Pierce was appointed Senior Pastor of Carter Memorial Church Of God In Christ, the fourth pastor in succession. Prior to his appointment as pastor, he had served the ministry for six years as its Assistant Pastor. Under his leadership, the ministry has experienced exceptional growth and is continuing to expand its territory and ministerial outreach. His commitment and passion for ministry are evident in his execution of many jurisdictional and national assignments entrusted to him. A dedicated servant of the Lord, he was consecrated to the office of Auxiliary Bishop in 2017. In November 2018, he was appointed Jurisdictional Prelate of the Maryland Central Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction by the Presiding Bishop and General Board of the Church Of God In Christ, Inc.

Bishop Pierce has served the Church Of God In Christ, Inc. for a number of years in various capacities, including, but not limited to being Vice Chairman of the International Auxiliaries In Ministry (AIM) Convention, Associate White House Liaison, and Coordinator of Ecclesiastical Services and the Presiding Bishop’s Forum in the Annual Holy Convocation. Currently, he serves as Chairman of the National Elections Commission and Vice Chairman & Logistics Coordinator for the National Leadership Conference.

As an active participant in city and state governmental affairs, Bishop Pierce is frequently called upon to engage in dialogue with leaders regarding pressing local, state, and national issues. He is a committed presence in the community and a powerful advocate for abundant living.

Having shared almost 30 years of marriage with his lovely wife, the late Lady Kandace Priscilla Pierce, Bishop Pierce proudly shares in memory with her, his life’s accomplishments. In addition, he shares his aspirations and vision with daughter, Tiffany, son, Carl, II, and his two grandchildren, Xavier and Skylar.
